
The Bolero
Bolero is a 3/4 dance that originated in Spain in the late 18th century, a combination of the contradanza and the sevillana.with lyrics of five to seven syllables in each of four lines per verse. It is in It is danced by either a soloist or a couple. It is in a moderately slow tempo and is performed to music which is sung and accompanied by castanets and guitarstriple time and usually has a triplet on the second beat of each bar.

The Cha Cha
The cha-cha-cha (in Spanish cha-cha-chá) is a Latin American dance. In ballroom dancing, it is increasingly popular to call the dance cha-cha.
The dance teacher Pierre Lavelle from the United Kingdom, a founder of the Latin American Faculty of the ISTD, visited Cuba in 1952
to discover mambo (some say, rumba) danced with the triple step in
place of the slow one.

The Foxtrot
The Foxtrot is a ballroom dance which takes its name from its inventor, the vaudeville actor Harry Fox. According to legend, Fox was unable to find female dancers capable of performing the more difficult two-step. As a result, he added stagger steps (two trots), creating the basic Foxtrot rhythm of slow-slow-quick-quick. The dance was premiered in 1914, quickly catching the eye of the talented husband and wife duo, Vernon and Irene Castle, who lent the dance its signature grace and style.

Mambo - Salsa
Mambo is a Latin dance of Cuban origin that corresponds to mambo music. It is rhythmically similar to the slower bolero, though it has a more complex pattern of steps. The saxophone usually sets the syncopated rhythm, while the other brass carries the melody.

The Rumba
American Style Rumba is characterized by the Latin motion (sometimes called Cuban motion or hip sway) arising from a knee being bent, as opposed to the straight leg style used in International.
Additionally, the same move in terms of footwork often goes by a different name in American versus International.

The term "swing dance" is commonly used to refer either to a group of dances developing in response to swing (genre) music in the 1920s, 30s and 40s, or to lindy hop, a popular partner dance today.
